Heinz Kopetz, president of one of the world’s leading sectoral associations, the World Bioenergy Association (WBA), has confirmed his participation at the conference, where he will give a lecture on the use of biomass and the role of bioenergy in the European energy policy. Kopetz has been for many years active in the field of agriculture, forestry and bioenergy, and is actively committed to promote bioenergy as the most important renewable energy source. It is necessary to replace fossil fuels with 100% renewable energy, says Kopetz, who throughout his professional career, has been engaged in a wide variety of positions related to energy, such as member of the Supervisory Board of a public utility for electricity and district heating, chairman of the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) and member of the Advisory Committee on Energy of the European Commission. Since 2012 he has been president of the World Association for Bioenergy, one of the most important and influential associations in promoting greater utilization of bioenergy in an efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
